About Us

The Back Bay/Beacon Hill Hebrew School offers a stimulating, friendly, and fun environment, where

Jewish children explore holidays and Jewish values through a hands-on, multi-sensory curriculum.

We provide an education that instills Jewish pride, a sense of history, and a genuine and meaningful understanding of Judaism. Through this knowledge, our students become informed adults who will shape our communities in years to come.

The Back Bay/Beacon Hill Hebrew School offers a unique approach in Judaic studies.  Our program is designed for preschool and elementary school-age children who are otherwise not receiving a formal Jewish education.

Curriculum:

Hebrew Reading:

Our students will learn to read & write Hebrew with the Aleph Champion Program, A project of Chabad Hebrew Schools International.

Chabad Hebrew Schools are changing the course of Hebrew reading forever with a brand new innovative, cutting edge reading system. Based on the martial arts motivational philosophy of color coded levels and testing, the Aleph Champion Program provides motivation and inspiration for Chabad Hebrew School students around the world.

Professional materials make Aleph Champ an incredible success. The Hebrew alphabet as well as the vowels and word formations were divided into 10 colored levels. The students start out as "White Aleph Champs", working their way up the colors of the rainbow to be a "Black Aleph" like their teachers.

Jewish Holidays:

Explore the the holidays, as we experience the unique tradition, food and meaning of the Jewish holidays throughout the year. All in a fun manner through crafts, show and tell, and games.

Israel:

Our students will attain an appreciation and affection for our homeland Israel, and its central place in Jewish history, life, and destiny. Lessons will present fascinating historical facts and stories about the land, providing a sense of familiarity with the Land of Israel.

Jewish History:

Join us as we meet our heroes  and heroines from the past as the stories in the Torah come alive. Stories connect us to each other, to our past, present and future.

Your child will gain an appreciation of how our heritage and culture has been preserved throughout the ages, and learn how to apply those lessons to modern life.

Mitzvot and Jewish Values:
Mitzvot and Jewish values give us the opportunity to anchor lofty concepts in daily life. By performing good deeds, we implement our knowledge in a meaningful way.
Mitzvot honor our relationship with G-d, with each other, and with the world.
Ingrained in every class, are the timeless Jewish values that have enriched the world and have made our people unique.

Some of the special activities our students enjoy in Hebrew School:
- Challah baking
- Sukkot party
- Shofar Factory
- Passover Matzah-bakery
- Holiday crafts

At BB/BH Hebrew School we don't just learn about Judaism, we live it!
