Chabad of Downtown Boston was established in 2011. Chabad's goal is to a create warm, engaging, and joyous Jewish community atmosphere in Downtown Boston. We proudly to serve Back Bay, Beacon Hill, the financial District, Mass General, the West, North and South Ends.
We believe that regardless of educational background or affiliation, it is the inalienable right of every Jewish person to learn and participate in our heritage.

Rabbi Yosef Zaklos
Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Rabbi Zaklos attended the Rabbinical College of Canada in Montreal. After graduation, he was selected to participate in an intensive study program in Israel for a year. He rounded out his Yeshiva education at the Central Chabad Yeshiva in Brooklyn, where he was ordained as Rabbi.
Rabbi Zaklos has actively been involved in adult learning, authoring courses for the largest Jewish institute of adult study programs, the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI). This includes the ever popular course entitled “Torah and Environmentalism”. He also penned several articles for Chabad.org, Chabad’s official website.
Rabbi Zaklos has an international repertoire of Jewish outreach, having visited over fifteen countries on five continents to teach and guide families in remote Jewish enclaves.
He helped direct the world's third largest Passover Seder in Bucharest Romania, and led High Holiday services in Nigeria, Alaska, and Hawaii. He played a pivotal role in Chabad’s tsunami relief efforts in Phuket Thailand, and traveled on a Chanukkah humanitarian mission to assist Cuban Jewry.
Mrs. Shayndel Zaklos
Shayndel Zaklos was raised in Boston, where she was imbued with a sense of mission to share her love of Judaism. Her parents, Rabbi Chaim and Nechama Prus, were sent as emissaries by the Lubavitcher Rebbe to establish the first Chabad center of Greater Boston in the mid 70’s.
Shayndel studied in Boston as well as Chicago, spent a year doing advanced Jewish studies in Jerusalem, and graduated from Excelsior College. She taught high school level Jewish studies in various educational institutions in New York. She planned and organized Jewish youth activities and after-school programs for varies schools and day camps. With her leadership and creativity she has developed and coordinated a host of innovative community holiday programs. She also created a unique curriculum for Bat Mitzvah study.
Shayndel is on the board of directors of the new, state-of-the- art Mikvah Miriam, at Beth Menachem Chabad in Newton, MA.
